Hard to believe this is the fifth one!
We’ll meet in the parking lot just before Haby’s bakery in Castroville. You can see the brown Haby’s sign on the right when you’re driving into town, and if you plug 213 US-90 Castroville, tx into your gadget, it should take you there. Turn into the parking lot just before the sign, coming from the direction of San Antonio. You might want to walk over to Haby’s and get a treat, both because they are delicious, and we’re having a late lunch at Bill and Rosa’s in D’Hanis. Don’t forget your radios, maybe some water, and certainly sun block and a hat. It’s going to be a beautiful day and a beautiful drive. It’s about 97 miles, and slightly under 2 hrs of drive time. I almost always see some wildlife out on this route. One time, there was a rattlesnake almost as long as the width of my lane, and I’ve also seen wild turkeys. There might even be a few hearty late flowers.
Show: 10:30 AM
Go: 11:00 AM
Lunch: 1:30 PM
P.S. When you get to Bill and Rosa’s, they usually have a list of daily specials on a white board. Have your smart phone out, snap a picture of it, and examine it at your leisure while you are at the table. That way, we’re not all crowded around it and trying to read it at the same time.
