Hill Country Run
with Social Distancing
June 5, 2020
The Hill Country Run was held on Friday, June 5. It was the first club run following a lengthy period of self-quarantine due to COVID-19. It was the first club run to use SignUpGenius for those who wanted to attend. And it may have been the first run to advertise without a disclosed departure location or destination, and no known lunch stop. But there were 14 Miatas and 19 club members at the Miata Valero in Bracken ready to go on that Friday morning. Two more club members joined the run at the mid-point at the Valero station in Spring Branch.
All attendees were ready to be out on the road again. And, it was good to see club friends again even with face masks and social distancing. The run followed some familiar roads including FM 1863, FM 311 and Rebecca Creek Rd. But there was a different part of the route past beautiful homes on River Way south of the River Crossing Golf Club. The second half of the run went to Kendalia, up Crabapple Rd and onto Old Blanco Rd. The route connected to FM 1623 and then to McKinney Lp. The emphasis of the run was scenery, and we had plenty to see on a pretty day. The last stop for most was lunch at the Redbud Cafe in Blanco.
